Importance

So, you’ve been deferred or waitlisted from one of your top-choice schools. Don’t fret; all is not lost! A deferral is not a denial. Instead, the school wants to see more from you. If it is deemed sending a Letter of Continued Interest is appropriate, then do so! In this session, we’ll work 1-ON-1 to write a meaningful and compelling Letter of Continued Interest that highlights your achievements and accomplishments since you submitted your application, including updated GPA, awards won, campus visits, updated test scores, and anything else you’d like for them to know.

FAQ's

How will we work together?

We’ll meet over Zoom and collaborate together using a shared Google Doc.

Will you review and edit my current Letter of Continued Interest?

Yes! See Proofreading, Editing, and Feedback service details.

How long will it take to write my Letter of Continued Interest?

The time it will take to write a Letter of Continued Interest will largely depend on the student’s appetite for revisions, but expect a minimum of 3 hours over a few days (including the time brainstorming).

Do you charge by the hour?

The Thoughtful Essay does not operate on an hourly rate. Rather, I feel it’s important to be able to spend the time necessary to brainstorm, get to know the student, his/her background, interests, and activities. In order for the ideal letter to emerge, thorough brainstorming and extensive discussions are necessary. From there, drafting, revising, and polishing will take time.

Will you write my letter for me?

Simply stated, no. The Thoughtful Essay will not write the student’s letter for him/her. Not only would it be unethical to do so, but it would also be a great disservice for the student and undermine the authenticity of the college application process. The essays/letters submitted will be the student's work (of course, with help and guidance).

How do I pay?

50% payment for Writing a Letter of Continued Interest is expected upon booking and will hold your spot. The remaining 50% is due upon completion of the first session. I accept most forms of payment including Venmo, Zelle, ApplePay, Paypal, MC, Visa, AmEx, and Discover. Would you like to request a different payment arrangement? Just ask.
